Oregon Architecture, Inc. (OAI) grew out of the Design/Build construction model pioneered by a Rogue Valley based construction company in the late 1990s. In 2005, under the direction of the current principal, the in-house design staff was organized into a separate division and then a separate company to serve its design/build clients. In 2008 Oregon Architecture, Inc. separated completely from the parent company to focus on the design of design/build for commercial and institutional clients in Oregon, California, Washington, Nevada and Utah. For five of the last 7 years it has completed designed for approximately $25 million in construction – without a construction claim.

OAI has continued to build on that strong foundation of customer service and construction knowledge. Current staff adds to its construction knowhow design innovation and the ability to provide creative solutions to complex projects and problems. In 2008 this firm completed one of the most striking privately funded buildings in the Rogue Valley – the Hematology Oncology Building on Barnett Road.

As with any design firm, success is based on the quality of personnel. Principal Mark McKechnie, AIA, brings 30-plus year of experience working on complex projects in Oregon, Minnesota and the Washington, D.C. area, where energy efficiency and working within constrained sites are the order of the day. Associate Thomas Whitney draws on 15 years of experience working in the challenging climate of the US Gulf Coast when working on OAI projects. To that is added the knowledge and experience of other staff and consultants to provide a well rounded team approach to any project.
