MARK MCKECHNIE, AIA Owner, Lead Architect Experience: Mr. McKechnie has been actively involved in the planning, design, project management and construction of a range of building types on college and university campuses for 10 of the past 20 years. He has successfully led a number of project teams on projects as diverse as clean room laboratories and golf course club houses. He has also been an active member of project teams designing and constructing projects up to $50 million. During his tenure as a member of the facilities department staff at the University of Maryland he was instrumental in forging relationships between Architects, Contractors and collegiate principals to complete a range of building projects, many on difficult sites, and with tight budgets or narrow construction windows. He is experienced in value engineering and designing to budgets. He has a broad understanding of the construction process from the perspectives of the architect, owner’s representative, developer, and contractor. The Commons Dining Hall, Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD $14.5 million new construction dining hall and student facility for a rural university. College Park Scholars Headquarters, University of Maryland, College Park, MD $600,000 renovation of former dining hall into a living/learning center.
